My future engineer

For the first time in more than a year the thought popped in my head, "I should blog about that." So, here I am.

Lucas, now in 3rd grade, has talked about being an engineer since kindergarten (or perhaps even earlier?). His handmade K "graduation" cap said: I want to be a ngeer, which his teacher helpfully translated into engineer for us.

Last night's homework included an assignment to research different types of engineers, ID five different types of engineers and briefly describe what they do.

One of the five Lucas selected was nuclear engineer and he told me that nuclear engineers "work with the insides of atoms."

What? I literally Googled fusion to see if he was right. He was.

I do believe this kid is indeed going to be an engineer one day. He's clearly already smarter than his mama in this area!

  1. So awesome. Maevy hasn't mentioned it, but I'd love for her to be engineer too! My sister is putting together a 5 pack of hands on engineering activities for kids - (instructions and supplies included) to auction off at our school's silent auction. You should email me/her if you want to order a few for Lucas. She regularly does Girl Scout days and other kid-engineering events via the Society for Women Engineers. She's a past state President. :)
